Cross of Grace Building Expansion

Rooted in Grace.
Growing in Mission.

Building for the Next 25 Years

For more than 25 years, God has been shaping Cross of Grace into a community where grace is offered with no strings attached. Now we are making room for grace once again — creating space for worship, learning, service, hospitality, and the future God is preparing.

Making Room for Grace

We are not growing for the sake of growth.

We are growing in mission.

Our building expansion is making room for those looking for a community where grace is offered with no strings attached, while increasing our mission of making disciples through worship, learning, and service.

This is a response to what God is already doing among us: new faces, growing ministries, fuller worship spaces, and a deepening call to serve our neighbors well for the next 25 years.

Why This Matters

Making room for the community God is gathering.

God is doing new things in our congregation and in the community around us. As New Palestine grows, Cross of Grace is being called to respond with faith, hospitality, and practical care.

On major Sundays and holidays, our worship space is packed. On many Sundays, our second service is already full. We need room not simply to fit more people, but to receive them well.

What this expansion makes possible

More room in worship. More room for children and families. More room for classes, small groups, receptions, meals, and community events. More room to serve with grace and clarity.

This project is not just about square footage. It is about creating space that reflects who Cross of Grace is becoming.

What We’re Building

Spaces designed for worship, welcome, and mission.

Expanded Sanctuary

Additional seating, improved accessibility, and more room for gathered worship as Cross of Grace continues to grow.

New Fellowship Hall

A more modern gathering space for meals, events, classes, conversation, and connection throughout the week.

Coffee Bar & Lounge

A warm, flexible space for hospitality, informal meetings, and everyday belonging beyond Sunday morning.

Children’s Play Area

A dedicated indoor area that blesses families and creates space for community life across generations.

Expanded Kitchen

More capacity for meals, hospitality, classes, and the ministry that happens around shared tables.

Sacristy, Entry & Outdoor Space

Improved storage, a more welcoming entrance, and covered patios that extend our ministry and hospitality outward.

From the Outside In

Welcome begins before anyone walks through the door.

A new canopy, entry experience, and expanded gathering space help Cross of Grace offer a clearer, warmer welcome to neighbors, guests, families, and longtime Partners in Mission alike.

Worship

Room to gather around Word, Table, and song.

The sanctuary expansion will create space for more people to worship together while also improving accessibility for leadership and participation in the life of the church.

Community

A fellowship space built for joy, meals, learning, and everyday life together.

This room will bless Sunday mornings, but it will also serve receptions, classes, small groups, concerts, lectures, coworking moments, and the many ordinary conversations where faith is formed.

Connection

Grace often grows in the spaces between the big moments.

The coffee bar and lounge area are designed for the kind of connection that makes a church feel like home: conversation, encouragement, welcome, and the quiet work of belonging.

Hospitality

Meals, ministry, and service need practical space too.

An expanded kitchen will strengthen Cross of Grace’s ability to host, feed, teach, celebrate, and care for people well — because ministry is both holy and practical.

Growing in Mission

As we make room here, we extend grace there.

This project is not only about expanding ministry in New Palestine. It also reflects Cross of Grace’s calling beyond its own walls.

Ten percent of this campaign will be tithed to Project Rouj, helping build homes in Haiti.

In other words, as we build for the next 25 years here, we also participate in hope and stability for neighbors in Fandwa. That is part of what it means to be rooted in grace and growing in mission.

Local and global mission belong together.

The same campaign that creates more room for worship, welcome, and ministry at Cross of Grace also strengthens our shared calling to serve the world God loves.

The more we give, the more we are able to build faithfully here, reduce debt responsibly, and extend mission beyond ourselves.

Join What God Is Doing

Make room with us.

Every gift is an act of gratitude. Every pledge is a sign of hope. Together, we can build for the next 25 years of worship, welcome, and mission at Cross of Grace.

Give now to support the project directly, or make a three-year commitment as part of this campaign.

Why give?

Because Cross of Grace is a place where grace changes lives. Because new people are looking for a spiritual home. Because this church’s ministry matters now — and will matter even more in the years ahead.

We give because we get to, not because we have to. And every gift counts.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions, answers, and an open invitation to ask more.

These answers are meant to be clear and helpful. If you want to talk further, please reach out to Pastor Mark, Pastor Cogan, or a member of the building team.

Each of us is called to give financially to the work of the church as an act of faithful discipleship. We give in gratitude for what God has done in our own lives and as a way to share that grace with the world.

We give because we get to, not because we have to. Every gift counts. If you want help discerning what your response might look like, we would be glad to talk with you.

God is doing new things in our community and in our congregation. Road construction, housing additions, school renovations, and commercial development all point to the growth around us, while new faces and growing ministries reflect the movement of God among us.

As Cross of Grace reaches the limits of its current sanctuary and fellowship spaces, this is a timely opportunity to make room to receive, include, and serve people well. That is why now matters.

Cross of Grace is approaching this project with both faith and responsibility. Leaders are prayerfully discerning what can be funded based on project costs, committed giving, available reserves, and sustainable financing.

This is meant to be a bold but responsible response to God’s call. If you would like to talk through the financial details more personally, we welcome those questions.

There is no sense in having a building if there is no ministry happening inside it. Cross of Grace will continue to need ongoing, generous support of both the General Fund and the Building and Outreach Fund.

Put simply: buildings matter because ministry matters. The goal is not to choose one over the other, but to strengthen both together.

These spaces are about more than convenience. They are part of how Cross of Grace can bless families, welcome neighbors, and support life together beyond Sunday morning.

The indoor children’s area and the lounge or coffee bar spaces are intended to be used not only for church gatherings, but also for weekday connection, small group meetings, coworking, and community life.

Three-year commitments help Cross of Grace plan responsibly, demonstrate lender confidence, and move into this project with clearer long-term support. Construction financing may last much longer, but the congregation’s intent is to retire debt as aggressively as possible.

This is a project for the next 25 years, and the giving strategy reflects that long view. If you want help thinking through what that means for your household, please reach out.

What you give should be discerned through prayerful conversation with God, giving thanks for the many blessings in your life. Take time to reflect on all that has been shared and consider what it might look like to give at the next level — or two.

Talk through questions, hopes, and concerns with someone you trust. And if it would be helpful, talk with Pastor Mark, Pastor Cogan, or a member of the building team. This is a decision to make prayerfully, boldly, and with gratitude.
